News
As lockdown appears to be lifting, we hope you and those closest to you have managed to stay safe and have remained well during these difficult times.
During the past months, Through Unity has been working hard to ensure our services for those affected by homicide have remained in operation — but, as for so many organisations, it has been difficult. We too have had to postpone events that provide a valuable service to our extended ‘family of families’, including capacity building residential trips and social events / family days for our members of all ages across the nation. Please rest assured that we will be announcing new dates for these events as soon as it becomes possible!
Despite this unprecedented crisis, we have invested our energies into developing our virtual services, ramping up the volume of communal Zoom meetings which have brought together our diverse members, whilst we’ve remained physically apart.
In a recent call, we were alerted to concerns raised by a few of our members in other forums regarding how they have felt ‘left behind’ by the work we’ve done recently. It was suggested that some members feel that we now focus more on young people than on whole families. We take these concerns very seriously; whilst also wanting to remind everyone that we provide an open service for all ages!
Everyone affected by homicide is welcome at Through Unity!
Yes – over the last 4 years, in response to many members suggested that this age group were not accessing the support that was then available, we have developed a regular project for young people – our Through Unity Youth Peer2Peer Support Project for young people aged 14 – 25 has enabled us to embark on Violence Prevention work with young peer coaches. We also still offer the same amount of family days / year (x5) and are actively raising funds to allow many more activities to take pace for all age groups.
So if you need our support, please get in touch and remember that our virtual doors remain open during lockdown and that we look forward to a day hopefully in the not too distant future when we can literally open our doors to you again! We are committed to serving those who have entrusted their faith in us.

It has been a difficult time for all, and it may well continue to be difficult for the foreseeable future, as many of us struggle to get to grips with the government’s changing measures around the virus. In the meantime, our services continue.
Much love and health to you and those closest to you. Take care, stay safe and we will see each other again soon.
