THROUGH UNITY UPDATES (NOVEMBER)

In the past couple of months, our online activity has continued in order to serve those affected by homicide. As is this case for many of us, the transition to a predominately online service has come with its own difficulties, but that has not been an excuse to provide a lesser service for those who need it – and we hope our recent activity reflects that.
Online Support Programme
For the past nine weeks, our Online Support Programme, in partnership with Escaping Victimhood, has carried on every Monday, with a range of sessions for our supporters.
We’ve had a range of incredible guest speakers, from our own Lorna Simpson and Sara Adams, to the amazing Terry Waite, who have provided very brave, caring support for those in attendance.
The Online Support Programme will be continuing for the foreseeable future and several members have suggested that we continue them in a post-COVID world. If you’d like to be a part of it, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register your attendance. You can also check the upcoming schedule of events here: https://www.facebook.com/EscapingVictimhood/events
Through Unity Online Quizzes
In addition to the Online Support Sessions, we’ve also made sure to have some great fun too, and the Through Unity Zoom Quiz was once again the space to do that.
In recognition of Black History Month, we held a special quiz to celebrate that occasion, bringing together many of our supporters for an evening of camaraderie, togetherness and laughter.
Based on your feedback we will be hosting more quizzes, and we will post those dates to you on our social media channels and through emails. If you’d like to attend, please make sure to email email@example.com.
Through Unity Members Survey
As you know, our board has grown considerably this year, with the addition of multiple high-quality personnel coming in to grow the charity’s service. In light of COVID, it was crucial to re-engage with supporters to collect an update on what is needed during these uncertain new times we live in.
In the past month, our board have contacted various Through Unity supporters to find out exactly that. Off the back of it, we will incorporate the responses into our upcoming delivery plans to ensure we provide a service that is wanted, valued and welcomed by all.
And if you would like to contribute to that process at any time, please send your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org. Every comment is honoured, and we will use it to inform the service going forward to ensure no supporter is unheard or left behind.
All donations go directly into funding our activity; and in the past week we are honoured to be able to thank the Co-Op customers for their kind donations totalling over £3000.
We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in that process. Every penny is a vindication for the supporters and team involved in the charity, and we only hope to expand the sum in order to do more for those who need it.
With Christmas coming up and many of us doing our shopping online, now is a perfect time to capitalise on many website’s charity schemes to bring in more contributions for the charity. Please check out this article on how to do that.
